Cheesecake a.k.a Tiramisu

Posted Saturday, December 19th, 2009

Last week as i was browsing through Tastespotting  in karthik’s room,we came across this cheesecake recipe that did not require an oven to make it.So karthik got all excited about this and decided to make it our weekend project.

So here’s the recipe for it:

Ingredients:-

– 2 packets of graham crackers

-400 g of cream cheese

-1/2 cup of sugar

-1/2 cup of vanilla sugar

-300 g of butter

-heavy cream-35%

-1 bar of cappuccino flavored  chocolate

-1 bar dark chocolate for garnishing (optional)

-1 tsp vanilla extract

-200 g hazelnut flavored M&M’s

Step 1:Crush the graham crackers with 300g of melted butter until it becomes moist crumbs.

Step 2:Transfer the crumbs into a tray and spread it out evenly using a spatula or your hand. Then transfer it to your refrigerator for 1/2 an hour or so,until the base is set.

Step 3: Beat the cream cheese with 1/2 a cup of sugar using a whisk or wooden spoon. We just used a blender. After that add in the vanilla extract.

Step 4: Whisk the heavy cream until it becomes light and fluffy with vanilla sugar.

Step 5: Mix up the cream cheese and heavy cream until it becomes a thick smooth mixture, make sure there are no lumps at this point. After that you’re free to put in any kind of nut, chocolate and fruits to make the filling. We used M&M’s and cappuccino flavored chocolate.

Step 6: Mix it all up together then pour it over the base.

Step 7: Freeze it for 5-6 hours or until it’s set.

Step 8:Garnish it with chocolate shavings once it’s done.

This is a dish you create when you have absolutely nothing in the fridge.I was practically staring at the almost empty shelves for a good 10 minutes  when i found these: leek and 4 hard boiled eggs, two cloves of garlic  and a small piece of ginger.Kinda pathetic i know, but what to do it’s too cold  to do any grocery shopping.Anyway here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:-

-200 g of mee hoon

-2 cloves of  garlic sliced

-a small piece of ginger sliced

-200 g of leek sliced

-4 hard boiled eggs sliced(you can do without the yolk and  it’ll still be as tasty)

-one fresh chili sliced

-2tbs of oyster sauce

-1 tbs of sesame oil

-soy sauce to taste

-a pinch of sugar and pepper to taste

Firstly boil some water and dump in  the mee hoon to cook, while this is happening heat some oil in a pan and start frying the garlic, ginger and chili  for 2 min, then throw in the sliced leek and stir fry it for about 3-4 min, once it becomes soft pour in the oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, pepper and sesame oil in this order. Then stir in the cooked mee hoon and hard boiled eggs evenly and you’re done.Simple isn’t it.
